CONNECT New Jersey

African Students Connect.

About the Connect Network

CONNECT NJ is a network for African Student Associations in New Jersey. Its aim is to serve as a channel for the promotion of events and projects engaged in by all member institutions in New Jersey as well as a forum for developing initiatives to help redefine Africa's future.

To this end, we aim to harness the intellect, energy, talent and resources of all individuals with a genuine interest in the welfare of Africa by exploring the innovative ways through which our interests and areas of expertise can be applied to solving specific problems.

Following the vision of "The Reawakening", which was held to re- sensitize African Students to their role in elevating Africa, the CONNECT initiative was set up to increase membership and participation, strengthen relationships among members of African Students Associations as well as unify their collective efforts for increased achievement on events and projects.

CONNECT Interactive Updates - Haitian Relief Effort

After a careful assessment and following advisory statements in the news, it has been decided that funds be collected first of all as it’s availability is crucial to the efforts of aid organizations. Relief material will also be collected as an intermediate effort, as supplies will still be highly needed in the months to come.

As individual ASAs, you will most likely be working within your respective institutions on their relief programs which will involve donation of funds to different organizations on ground in Haiti.

Collectively as CONNECT, we will be discussing the organization of an event to raise funds for the relief effort. Interested members can also collect funds individually using collections sheets, (Please email asaconnect@gmail.com for more information)
Details on this as well as programs for the semester will be discusses at the meeting on Saturday, January 30th. Time: 4:00pm. Venue: Essex County College.
